Greater Glory Board Game Expo 2025--Press Release

Inaugural Greater Glory Board Game Expo to Take Place in Front Royal, VA

FRONT ROYAL, Virginia—The Fellowship of the King Board Game Society will host its first-ever Greater Glory Board Game Expo in Front Royal on October 18, 2025, seeking to invite families, educators, clergy, and board game enthusiasts for a groundbreaking day of faith, fellowship, and fun.

The first event of its kind on the East Coast, this expo is designed to bring people together to explore the many ways that board games can build up lives, families, and faith communities. Attendees will have the opportunity to experience and enjoy a curated selection of excellent faith-based board games, connect with like-minded individuals, and learn from inspiring speakers.

According to Travis Wakeman, President of the Fellowship of the King Board Game Society, it will be a great time. “Plus, in our digitized world, sitting around a table with real human beings has never been more meaningful,” he said.

Event highlights include open-play tables to try out or watch many different board games, contests and prizes, content and programming for all ages from children to adults, and free admission.

Speakers will include therapist Margaret Luckey, who will explain the benefits of recreation for good mental health, educator Joel Fernandez, who will talk about the pedagogical use of board games, and Bret Bement, who has many things to say about the prodigious importance of fun.

“We don’t stop playing because we grow old. We grow old because we stop playing,” said Bret, owner-proprietor of the Play Favorites toy store in Front Royal, quoting George Bernard Shaw. “Like the parables, everything we’re saying has already been said. It’s common knowledge, open secrets at best. People just might not know how to put it into practice.”

This event will take place at the Doubletree by Hilton Front Royal Blue Ridge Shadows from 9 am to 4 pm. It is proudly hosted in partnership with Living Nazareth. Admission will be free (donations gratefully accepted), and lunch will be provided.
